Learning decision boundaries for cone penetration test classification

چکیده

In geotechnical field investigations, cone penetration tests (CPT) are increasingly used for ground characterization of fine-grained soils. Test results different parameters that typically visualized in CPT based data interpretation charts. this paper we propose a novel methodology which is on supervised machine learning permits redefinition the boundaries within these charts to account unique soil conditions. We train ensembles randomly generated artificial neural networks classify six types database hundreds from Austria and Norway. After training combine multiple solutions classification problem visualize new decision between types. The comprehensible step towards automatically adjusted specific local

A Method for Predicting Pile Capacity Using Cone Penetration Test Data

The massive construction in poor lands has encouraged engineers to use deep foundations in order to transfer superstructure loads to the subsoil. Since soil excavation, sampling, and laboratory testing as a part of site investigation are relatively difficult, in-situ tests such as cone penetration test (CPT) as a very informative test may be recommended. The CPT has been widely used in engineer...

Estimating of geotechnical properties of clay soil with dynamic cone penetration (DCP) test

Dynamic cone penetration (DCP) test is used more in pavement design and construction, and less for subsurface geotechnical investigation and clay core dam. In the present article, evaluating geotechnical parameters of Sanandaj’s clay in the western region of Iran using the DCP test was taken into account. Accordingly, 6 trial pits with maximum depths of 15 m were excavated manually in various s...

Using Miniature Cone Penetration Test (Mini-CPT) to determine engineering properties of sandy soils

In-situ testing techniques have proven to be successful in improving the speed and reliability of geotechnical investigations. One of the most common in-situ methods in engineering geology and site investigation is Cone Penetration Test (CPT), which is mainly used for characterization of soils, as it is a robust, simple, fast, reliable and economic test that can provide continuous soundings of ...

Subsurface Exploration Using the Standard Penetration Test and the Cone Penetrometer Test

The Standard Penetration Test (SPT) and Cone Penetrometer Test (CPT) have become industry standards for subsurface geotechnical investigations using small diameter (<8-in. [20-cm]) borings and soundings. Both procedures have evolved over a period of 100 and 70 years, respectively, and have been adopted as ASTM standards. Each procedure has certain advantages over the other, but both can elicit ...

An Efficient Adversarial Learning Strategy for Constructing Robust Classification Boundaries

Traditional classification methods assume that the training and the test data arise from the same underlying distribution. However in some adversarial settings, the test set can be deliberately constructed in order to increase the error rates of a classifier. A prominent example is email spam where words are transformed to avoid word-based features embedded in a spam filter. Recent research has...
